Metalloinvest is a leading global producer and supplier of HBI and iron ore products, and a regional producer of high quality steel. The company is the second largest producer of pellets, and one of the regional leaders in production of rolled steel niche brands.
Metalloinvest comprises of leading iron ore production facilities in Russia – Lebedinsky mining processing plant (GOK) and Mikhailovsky mining processing plant (GOK); steel mills – Oskol Elektrometallurgical Plant; a ferrous scrap enterprise – Ural Scrap Company, as well as assets that ensure service maintenance and external shipments of raw materials to other mining and steel companies.
Metalloinvest's environmental programme includes large-scale goals and measures to minimize the negative impact of the Company's enterprises on the environment, ensure the efficient use of natural resources, and achieve leadership positions in the global metallurgy in the field of environmental efficiency of production processes.
The programme of activities was formed on the basis of a risk-based approach - an environmental risk management system, in which each activity is assigned a certain significance coefficient, and based on this rating system, a hierarchy and priority of areas is built, taking into account financial, social and environmental aspects. The calculation of the integral assessment of environmental risks was based on an analysis of the potential negative impact on stakeholders, taking into account the obligations applicable to the activities of the Company's enterprises, including legal requirements, and the forecast of the likelihood of the risk occurring.

Metalloinvest’s Environmental Programme was developed in 2019 with an aim to reduce the impact on the environment and improve the environmental situation in the regions where the company operates. The Programme provides a set of environmental measures with a direct environmental effect at all of the Company’s production sites.
Target:
Minimize the impact on the environment, ensure the efficient use of natural resources and be among the leaders in environmental efficiency of production processes in the global metallurgy.
KPIs of the Environmental Program (to the level of 2020):
To reduce emissions by 7% by 2025;
To complete transition of Mikhailovsky mining processing plant (MGOK) and Oskol Elektrometallurgical Plant (OEMK) to a closed water recycling system and to avoid wastewater discharges into water bodies by 2026;
To reduce discharges of Lebedinsky mining processing plant (LGOK) into local water bodies by 17% by 2026;
To achieve 100% recycling of OEMK industrial waste by 2025;
To reduce the amount of overburden at LGOK and MGOK by 32% by 2025.
